|These are a few of the not-for-profit sites on the Internet that I've found helpful as I researched my family. Genealogists are such a generous group of people! I hope you'll find time to visit each site and witness the work these folks have so graciously shared. By the way, the best way to thank these researchers is to sign their guest book and let them know that you visited their site!
Please send me an e-mail if you have a site you would like to have listed here.

The Best of the Best:
The Original Lamar County Web Site
Timen Stiddem (Stidham) Society
|Sue Palmer~Elliott's wonderful site includes a wealth of information on Lamar County families! Sue's site is so beautiful that I refer to her as the "Web Goddess" and she always seems to have something new! Also, check out Sue's other sites:
The Elliott Corner of West Texas Website which includes a lot of genealogy information for Sue's North Alabama lines.
Palmer Paths - Sue's site dedicated to helping any and all Palmers find their ancestry.
A comprehensive site dedicated to bringing together descendants of our original Stidham* ancestor, Timen Stiddem. If you are related to the Stidhams, I would also highly recommend that you buy the book The Descendants of Timothy Stidham by Jack Stidham who has done years of research (and is a very nice man). The history of this family is fascinating!
The Alabama Genweb Lamar County Site
This very informative site is hosted by Allison Saxman who has done a terrific job organizing and up-loading information pertaining to Lamar and surrounding counties. She also hosts a site on the Northwest Alabama Territory (see My Other Favorites).
Vicki Turman Whaley's Web Site
Vicki Whaley, my first cousin, did an amazing amount of work on our family history before her death in 1999. It was her web site that rekindled my interest in genealogy and I am still astounded by the quality and quantity of work she put together. This link takes you to the pages related to our family but there are many, many pages on the Whaleys as well.
My Other Favorites:
Hallmark Family History Homepage (Site for those descended from the original Hallmark ancestor, George Hallmark, who came to America as an indentured servant. The Hallmarks also put out a great newsletter delivered via e-mail free of charge!)
42nd Alabama Infantry--(Site hosted by Peg Price who has compiled an amazing amount of data on the 42nd. Several of my ancestors were in Company K, including Isaac Ballard, Charles Berry Norton, and Seaborn Duke.)
O'Neal's 26th Alabama--(Tod Molesworth, a self-described "Yankee by birth, Southerner by heart", has done an excellent job researching the 26th. My relatives in the 26th include many, many Taylors, Rectors, and Hankins.)
NW Alabama Territory
Alabama Genweb (access individual county sites from here)
Lamar County Nortons (my original site--all its pages have been copied onto Alabama Ancestors.)
Graphics by Shawna - Great sets of lovely graphics for your web page, offered free of charge for non-profit sites. Thanks Shawna!
